Advent December 12
” In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. And everyone went to their own town to register.” Luke 2:1, 3
Seemingly small details are important to God including where Christ would be born, which was prophesied in the Old Testament. God used an evil king to position Joseph and Mary exactly in the right location and at the right time for Christ’s birth. Proverbs 21:1 says “The King’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord, he turns it wherever he wishes.” Despite Cesar Augustus’ motives, God accomplished his plan. Oftentimes we feel out of control when ungodly people are in a position of power over us. We can take comfort in knowing that God is in control even when we feel threatened or inconvenienced. Just as he had a plan for Christ’s birth, God has intricate plans for our lives as well.
God, help us remember that you are in control in every circumstance even when we feel out of control. Thank you for bringing your Son into a chaotic world and for bringing us peace and hope. Amen
