“While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.” Luke 2:6-7
When Joseph and Mary left Nazareth, they likely didn’t expect to have God’s chosen Son on the way. It must have been surprising when she went into labor in the little town of Bethlehem. This wasn’t the town one would expect a King to come from, nor would a manger be the anticipated site. Little did they know that the timing of the journey and the route they must travel would fulfill a prophecy proving who He was. God shows us He uses ordinary events to reveal himself, though the location and timing are often the most important detail.
God, we thank you for sending us your son. We know Lord that you can equip us & ready our hearts for life’s trials just as you did for Mary & Joseph. We ask that even when life doesn’t go as we expect, we continually praise you for the path you guide us down. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
