Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God
and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom
his favor rests.” Luke 2:13-14
There is a link between the glory of God and the peace of His people. As God gets the glory He bestows His peace upon us. This is both true in the immediate and the eternal sense. When we surrender to the Lordship of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we receive ultimate Peace with God and are reconciled to Him for eternity. But when we give glory to God in the day to day, not keeping adulations and praises for ourselves, but deferring to Him and His presence, wisdom, and provision in ‘our’ achievements, we experience the peace of knowing that we have put the glory where it belongs. Peace is not the absence of conflict, but confidence in the sovereignty of the One who sits on the Throne.
God, help us to keep our confidence in You. The fact that You would willingly come in the form of a vulnerable baby shows just how in control You are. All glory be to Your name, Amen.
