Advent Day 17 – Fitch Family

Advent Day 17 – Fitch Family

DECEMBER 17, 2020

“When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” – Luke 2:15

“Let’s go…” Was the appropriate response to the declaration given to the shepherds. The good news of great joy that was proclaimed to them was so exciting and marvelous they had to go see it for themselves. I think of Peter and John, when first told of the Lord’s resurrection, they got up and went to see the miracle for themselves. My hope is that each of us, upon hearing the news of Christ’s birth, and resurrection, have a similar emotional reaction. We can’t wait to see it for ourselves! One day we will see Him. Are you excited? I am! Don’t allow the quagmire of today’s trials dim your enthusiasm for the miraculous salvation we have received, nor allow it to rob you of the excitement for what the Lord has yet in store – His triumphant return!

Lord, please fill me with excitement, awe, wonder, and gratitude for your incarnation, resurrection, and anticipation for your return. I desire to have the giddiness of the shepherds – the ones viewed as “unclean” by the world were chosen to be the first recipients of the Good News. Thank you for loving the “unclean” and unlovable. We praise and thank you for your grace and steadfast love. Amen.
