“On coming to the house, the Magi saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.” Matthew 2:11-12
We don’t know exactly when the Magi arrived to see the Christ child. We do know they had a long journey sacrificing their time and comfort. They brought precious gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Believers are called to give gifts as well. Romans 12:1 tells us to offer ourselves as a holy and pleasing sacrifice to God. Hebrews 13:15-16 directs us to continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, confessing his name. May this Christmas season make you aware of the greatest gift – Jesus!
Father God, we are so grateful for your son Jesus! Help us to be fully aware of the true
meaning of Christmas and to give the gifts of time and love to others around us.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
