Advent Day 23 – Linda Byrd

Advent Day 23 – Linda Byrd

December 23

“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” Isaiah 9:2

While now is the darkest time of the year for those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere, the deep darkness Isaiah refers to is a spiritual darkness. These days it seems our world is mired in ever deepening darkness. Around the world many people remain in the dark when it comes to the life-giving light of the Gospel. Yet, Isaiah proclaims, “a light has dawned.” John 1:5 declares, “the darkness has not overcome it.” May we faithfully pray for those living in darkness shining the true light as we introduce others to Jesus – light of the world.

Lord, thank you for bringing light to my darkness. Help me to not hide it under a bushel or allow Satan to blow it out, but shine it all around my neighborhood and to a weary world as you lead. Amen
