GBC Core Values
Definition: Core Values are a set of priorities that describe who we are and what we’re about. When it comes down to it, it’s what we are willing to give our lives for. A well integrated community member should see these and say: “Yes! That’s us!”
We Will Retain A Biblical Worldview
While some strive to reinterpret scripture in light of changing cultural values, we will pursue the clearest interpretation of the original meaning with the understanding that Truth is timeless and authoritative. (Acts 20:30; 2 Cor 4:2; 2 Pet 3:16)
We Will Be Above Reproach
As disciples of Jesus, we will embody the highest level of integrity. (Rom 12:17)
We Will Put People Over Programs
Steamrolling people in order to ‘get the job done’ is unacceptable. Loving God and loving people is the point of all we do. (Lk 10:25-37)
We Will Offer Dignity To All
Every person is made in the image of God and deserves dignity and consideration. We will not give preferential treatment to some over others. (Jas 2:1-13)
We Will Pursue The Abundant Life
While the fallen state of the world gives us reason for sorrow and struggle, Christian life and ministry should be marked by satisfaction in our calling and joy that transcends our circumstances. (Jn 10:10; Gal 5:22; Mt 13:44; Lk 6:23)
We Will Embrace Challenge in the Context of Safety
Sanctification requires the challenge of change. Change requires vulnerability. Vulnerability requires the safety of trusted relationships. (Lk 21:8; 1 Cor 13:4-7; 2 Tim 2:2)
We Will Accept The Costliness of Mission
Jesus models self-denial and self-sacrifice for the sake of loving God and loving neighbors. We come with the expectation that discipleship will be costly. (Lk 21:8; 1 Cor 13:4-7; 2 Tim 2:2)
