“‘I am the Lord’s servant,’ Mary answered. ‘May your word to me be fulfilled.’ Then the angel left her.” Luke 1:38
Mary could have responded in many ways to the angel’s message. The message was going to be challenges and difficulties to her life. It was going to create awkward conversations and her baby would be looked at as a child born out of marriage. Mary could have resisted or fought back with God, but instead she simply said, “I am the Lord’s servant.” Mary’s faith in this moment is why she was chosen to be the mother of Jesus. She didn’t understand it all, but understood the most important thing, God is good, God has called, and God will be with her.
God, give us the faith to respond to your callings on our life like Mary. Help us to trust in you more and more, and to remember that above all we are here to serve you. In Jesus name, Amen.
